There is a bearing where the PTO shaft rides just above the final drive. That shaft has to be pulled through that at just the right angle or it will bind. I think that it comes out to the rear of the tractor so you may have to pull the bearing with it and reinstall before the rest goes back in. The shaft fits pretty snug in that bearing.
